The Bund
The Bund alongside Huangpu River once was the financial center of the Far East. It is considered the city's symbol since the 1920s. It is often referred to as "the museum of buildings", as many different styles of European buildings can be found here. Now it is even more attractive as you can also see modern skyscrapers just opposite the Huangpu River. That gives you a strong contrast between modern life and the past.

Yuyuan
Garden
A traditional Chinese Ming style private garden, originally built in 1559 but ransacked and restored several times since then. Entry to the garden for many exquisite Chinese pavilions, seemingly never-ending paths, and sculpted gardens within. Near the garden, the famous zigazg bridge and its teahouse can be visited. The bazaar near the garden is always crowded with both Chinese and Western tourists.

Xintiandi
As a re-creation born out of the sprawls of Shikumen housing, which is the architectural symbol of Shanghai in the 20th century, Shanghai Xintiandi, “the city’s living-room” is a place to unwind and relax after a long day. A window to the past and the future, to China and the world. Shanghai Xintiandi’s Shikumen attraction was created by converting residential blocks into a multifunctional dining, retail and entertainment center flowing with restaurants, boutiques, cafes and bars of an international standard. The Shikumen building within Shanghai Xintiandi retain the antique walls, tiles and exterior of the Shikumen housing of old Shanghai, while the internal spaces have been designed and decorated to suit the up tempo lifestyle of the 21st century urbanites, with infinite details that exude the casual elegance of modern city living.

Dongtai Road Antique Market
Dongtai Road Antique Market has over 100 stalls spread over two blocks. Interesting items, such as Mao memorabilia, ceramics, old Shanghai posters, pocket watches, paintings and other collectables are available here.

Duolun Road
Duolun Road is a street of historical and cultural sites, which captures the cultural spirit of Shanghai in the 1920s and 1930s. It has become a cultural bazaar today. The site of the inaugural meeting of the China Left-wing Writers’ Federation was a neo-classic British style house built in 1924. The Chinese Left-wing Writers’ Federation played a great role in introducing advanced literary theories, translating and introducing progressive foreign works of art, and creating the movement of grassroots literature. Former residence of Tang Enbo, a general of the Republic of China, was built in 1920 with a neo-classic French style characterized by elegant and glorious exterior.

Taikang Road
This is a 400 metre long street where quite a number of famous artists such as Huang Yongzheng, Chen Yifei and Er Dongqiang have set up workshop on this road. Art galleries, coffee shops and studios have pushed the development of Taikang Road by the reputation and diligent work of artists.
